PLEASE FILL OUT THE TUNE FORM COMPLETELY AND ACCURATELY. Again, PLEASE FILL OUT THE TUNE FORM COMPLETELY AND ACCURATELY!
STEP 2
SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR STOCK TUNE
*****PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE STARTING THE READ PROCESS!!!
*****YOU MUST HAVE AN INTERNET CONNECTION AVAILABLE TO READ ANY 2018+ VEHICLE!
- First, connect your MPVI2/2+/3/4 to your vehicle’s OBD2 port, typically located under the dash on the driver’s side.
- Next, connect the supplied USB cable to your MPVI device and your laptop.
- Launch/Open the VCM Editor BETA software. (DO NOT USE the STABLE version)
- To “read” the PCM you can use the hotkey “Ctrl+R” to open the read window. Alternately you can select the “Read Vehicle” from the “Flash” menu in the Toolbar, or you can click the "Flash" icon located in the Toolbar.
- A dialog box should open next labeled “Vehicle Reader” at the top. It should contain the VIN of your vehicle, and will also list the calibration identification.
- If given the option to “Read Entire”, please select that option. If “Read” is your only option, you can simply select “Read”.
- This will begin the reading process.
- Please note, 2018+ vehicles have a very large file size and can take upwards of 20 mins to read.
- PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU BATTERY IS ADEQUATELY CHARGED PRIOR TO BEGINGING THE READ PROCESS, OR CONNECT A TRICKLE CHARGER TO THE BATTERY DURING THE READ PROCESS. Low voltage during a read or write process can leave the vehicle inoperable and unable to start.
- Once the read process is complete, a dialog box will open prompting you to save the file. Please save the file with the following format “Your Name-Stock Read”, and save the file in an easy to locate folder, for example “My Documents”.
- After you’ve saved the file, attach the file to an email and send it to tuning@oztuning.com. Include your name, order number, and “Stock File” in the subject line of the email to expedite turnaround time.
Possible Issues:
- The most common issue is a “Definition Failed to Load…” error message after reading the file.
- This simply means that your calibration is not currently mapped in the “release” version of VCM Suite, but typically it will be supported in the Beta version. You can still, and should, save the file normally, but you should inform us when emailing the file that you encountered this error. In the event that you encounter this error and your calibration is NOT supported in the Beta version of VCM Suite, we will email you to inform you. In this case we will need to submit a support request to HP Tuners to have the calibration added to the software. This process can take several days to a couple weeks to add support, so please be patient.
- The “Vehicle Reader” dialog box is requesting that you select the ECM Type or Hardware Type prior to reading the PCM.
- This typically means that your calibration is not fully supported in the release version of VCM Suite. Please install and open the Beta version of the software and attempt the read process again. If you still encounter this error, please email us details of the issue.
